Toronto, February 19, 2015 – Media Headquarters today announces a partnership with multimedia studio Electus and Barracuda Television Productions to produce its hit format Canada’s Smartest Person in the US market.
The factual entertainment format, originally developed in Canada for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, is a prime time competitive reality series in which competitors prove their smarts in unique challenges that go beyond trivia or IQ tests.
“The successful rollout of Canada’s Smartest Person proves that entertaining and accessible Canadian formats have a great chance for success beyond our borders. Barracuda’s Barry Poznick will serve as Executive Producer. Poznick has created and produced dozens of hit TV shows airing in more than 150 countries around the world including Are You Smarter Than Fifth Grader?, Buckwild, and Family Game Night. The American adaptation of the format is currently being shopped to US networks.

Electus has licensed Canada’s Smartest Person to Turkey’s TRT and Sera Film for production, and has secured deals in France, Norway, Sweden and Portugal.
The program debuted on CBC in September 2014 and was Canada’s number one new series of the Fall television season. Canada’s Smartest Person also features a groundbreaking interactive component that allows viewers to play along on mobile devices. It is one of the most popular interactive experiences ever produced in Canada, with over 180,000 app downloads and one million intelligence tests completed.
